About us
Christian Aid is an international development agency working in 47 countries around the world. Christian Aid commenced operations in Nigeria in 2003 and have worked with local communities, individuals and groups as facilitators of social development in the areas of Health and Human Development, Democracy and Good Governance; and Humanitarian and Sustainable Development. With marginalized and vulnerable groups at the centre of our interventions, we have designed, funded, implemented and complemented programmes using a rights-based approach, and taking power dynamics into account, to empower communities to drive their own sustainable development and effectively engage with all stakeholders’ accountability and increase their participation in decision making processes for development.
About the role
Christian Aid Nigeria is looking to recruit a volunteer to support the Communications team as Programme Communications Volunteer.The Programme Communications volunteer will provide hands-on support to deliver on the communications strategy for specific projects and country-level internal communications. The individual will edit, format and design programme communication materials such as reports, info sheets, awareness raising materials, project updates etc. He/she will draft articles and other written materials for use on all internal and external digital platforms, including traditional media platforms. The vounteer will maintain a schedule for the dissemination of content across various channels, collect and collate project specific information on learning, best practices and share within the global organisation. The volunteer will collate and disseminate monthly workstream update to promote information flow within the Christian Aid Nigeria team. He/she will provide relevant communications support during workshops, trainings and events The individual will be required to work three days a week within Christian Aid official hours.
About you
The successful individual must have a keen interest in development communication, therefore being able to support projects across all Christian Aid’s programme areas. The individual must be a self-starter and have the ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. He/she must have excellent written communication skills, an eye for design & graphics and basic photography skills. The individual must be willing to explore and learn new ways of working given the fluid nature of the job. He/she must have knowledge of development communication to promote participation and engagement of target audiences. The individual must have good story telling skills and ability to use microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to use movie and animation making software is an added advantage
