GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Livelihood Protection Officer should provide overall supervision to protection mainstreaming activities for the project but not limited to; including staffs’ capacity building in terms of ensuring staff is aware of all protection related issue as well as project is as per required in line with SOPs. This post will be responsible for adding to nutrition activities in line with FS Project Nutrition Officer. During the absence of Field Coordinator, the position will be wholly accountable for the project under the direct supervision of HoB /or PM.
Main responsibilities and tasks
ENSURE – through clear weekly and monthly work plans – protection monitoring, and field assessment activities are carried out in a timely, effective and technically sound manner.
Supervise/facilitated the conduction of individual interviews and beneficiary’s assessment – applying the Age, Gender and Diversity approach – to fully understand the displaced population in its diversity, their protection concerns and priorities, and the resources available to them.
Ensure Protection activities are mainstreamed into all INTERSOS’ Livelihood project activities.
Lead in the collection of complaints, information/data about vulnerability, protection needs and concerns of the targeted population.
Educate the staff and beneficiaries on their rights, feedback and complaint mechanism
Provide constant feedback to supervisor on progress, lesson learnt, and gaps, issues and problems.
Liaise with relevant public authorities and services providers in order to effective collaboration and encourage national interest and ownership in protection of IDPs, refugees and other persons of concern.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
• MSc. / Graduation in Social Sciences;
Professional experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience at national level project
implementation position in a humanitarian / recovery context;
• Experience in working in complex and volatile contexts;
• Some basic familiarity with Livelihood projects (warehouse management, In-kind and cash for food);
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
• Experience in leadership and problem solving
Languages
• Fluency in English, both written and oral including local language an advantage;
Personal requirements
• Capacity to adapt to basic living conditions, patience;
• Ability to put up with pressure from government agencies;
• Ability to deliver high quality work within tight deadlines;
• Strong negotiation
