The Campaigns team sits within the Global Policy and Campaigns Department and works with internal and external stakeholders facilitating international advocacy across the organisation.
The Global Advocacy & Campaign Manager will lead on assigned areas of our international advocacy and campaigning agenda, working with other stakeholders, engaging and influencing global institutions to help deliver WaterAid’s mission of Everyone Everywhere by 2030.
Job Description
Reporting to the Global Campaigns Director, this pivotal role leads a small team and works across WaterAid federation to achieve the changes needed to ensure universal access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.
Key accountabilities will remain flexible. Work plans, and targets may change significantly according to political and advocacy priorities. Overall this role will;
- Provide strategic and operational leadership on development and implementation of an advocacy strategy to deliver impact in relation to an agreed thematic/policy priority, using political judgment and analytical, communication and representational skills.
- Lead on influencing policy and practice of key external targets such as specific departments in national governments, UN agencies and intergovernmental organisations, to inform the delivery of WaterAid’s global advocacy work; share intelligence with relevant WaterAid federation members and country programmes.
Person Specification
To be successful, you’ll need:
- Successful track record of significant impact on policy and practice change through extensive national/international advocacy, networking, lobbying and policy experience, demonstrated by examples.
- Demonstrability of a track record of innovation in developing and influencing public policy on themes such as, development economics, natural resource management, sustainable development or human rights.
