NRC is looking for a Support Manager for our Area Office based in Maiduguri – North Eastern Nigeria. The purpose of the Support Manager position is to coordinate the support functions at an Area Office and off-load the Area Manager on support functions.
NRC initiated country operations in Nigeria in June 2015, in order to respond to the critical and increasing needs in the country. NRC currently has a full team based in Maiduguri and a coordination office in Abuja. NRC is currently providing services across various sectors namely; Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WaSH); Livelihoods and Food Security; Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) and Education in order to address identified humanitarian needs.

Duty station: North East Nigeria
Travel: 40%
Duration and type of contract: 12 months (with possibility of extension)
The Support Manager reports to the Area Manager.
Job description
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities

Daily management of support Department Area Office, including line management of support staff – Finance, HR & Admin and Logistics

Member of the Area Management Group
-
Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and handbooks and donor/auditor requirements

Provide input on operational support to the Area Plan of Action, and to coordinate and align operational support with programme plans at area level
-
Responsible for ensuring quality support to project implementation

Facilitate Area Support Budget, area level budgets, including support cost
-
Responsible for developing regular reports on Area level to Country Office and AM
-
Responsible for implementation of technical SOPs, guidelines and tools in Area (HR, Logistic/ICT and Finance)

Facilitate trainings for programme staff on finance, logistics and HR procedures

Responsible for technical capacity building of support staff (HR, Logistic/ICT and Finance)
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
· Supporting Field Coordinators in establishing administrative routines at field level
· Responsible for coordinating support functions to programme, including between Area Office and Field Offices
· Responsible for capacity building of Support Department staff.
· Responsible for developing and monitoring support budgets

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

Scale and scope of position
Staff: HR/Admin Coordinator, Finance Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator.
Staff reporting directly to the position is HR coordinator, Logistics Coordinator and Finance Coordinator

The position is responsible for planning and monitoring Z-budgets within own level of authorization

We offer
· Commencement: March 2019.
· Duration: 12 months.
· Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions. Grade Level 8 Step 1.
· Duty station: Maiduguri, with 40% frequent travels. Travel outside Maiduguri is dependent on changing security conditions, especially for certain roads in the area.
