About the role
Working within the Angola team, the primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the progress of the country programme towards its strategic goals, especially through supporting, managing, developing and evaluating Christian Aid Angola’s partnerships.
About you
You will be working with partners across the region; planning, resourcing and managing intervention jointly with partners and allies, in country and in the distance; support partners’ and programme’s communication, networking and links; managing opportunities and risks; developing knowledge; scanning the horizon for new resourcing; lead on monitoring, reflection and evaluation, creating conditions so that learning is fed into programme decision-making; and contributing to sharing the learning effectively.
You will also contribute to the development of Christian Aid policies and strategies; and engage with and promote fundraising. There will be travel, and longer stays in country are required.
The successful candidate will have: Excellent Portuguese and English; Significant experience in international development; Direct experience of programme and advocacy work and of supporting partners’ capacity development; Familiarity with programme cycle management, approaches and tools, including participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation; Good knowledge of institutional donors.
You will need to demonstrate understanding of financial controls and procedures.
You should possess a degree in relevant discipline or equivalent.
It is desirable that the successful candidate also has: a post-graduation in a relevant field or other relevant qualification; knowledge and experience of incorporation of power and gender analysis and action, rights-based approaches and participatory methodologies into partners’ and own work; and understanding of human rights, conflict transformation and peace building work.
