Purpose of job:
To work with the Arts Programme Manager to support the delivery of the British Council Creative Futures programme to agreed targets, impact, customer service standards and financial management standards to meet the programme objectives within the defined timeline and client expectations.
Context:
The British Council Ethiopia Arts team currently runs two flagship programmes, namely Creative Futures and East Africa Arts Programme. With both programmes we aim to connect and provide capacity building and collaboration opportunities for Creative Practitioners in Ethiopia, East Africa and the in the UK. There are key events to be delivered on the Creative Futures programme in the following few months.
Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
The post holder will be accountable to the Arts Programme Manager and will be responsible for providing the required support for the successful delivery of Creative Futures events. All duties will be in line with our Equal Opportunities & Diversity, Child Protection, Environmental and other overarching corporate policies.
Specific duties will include:
– Provide administrative, financial and logistical support to ensure the successful delivery of all related activities
– Work with the respective teams, to ensure that all project related procurement, contracting and payments are completed according to British Council procedures and client requirements.
– Assist in the identification, assessment, reporting and management of risks- Help to manage programmes budgets to corporate standards
– Help to ensure that outcomes and impact are measured and reported according to corporate standards and client requirements.
– Identify risks and escalate as appropriate to Arts Programme Manager.
– Support implementation of the evaluation strategy for Creative Futures Role Profile 2 of 3 Ethiopia January 2015
– Provide market intelligence and information, maintain and develop close understanding links within the sector
– Assist in ensuring that Creative Futures activities are marketed to the highest standards internally and externally and attract the target audience.
– Other administrative work as required.
– Support other programmes when and where required.
Key Relationships:
Internal: British Council Ethiopia Arts Programme Manager, Creative Futures Project Director , British Council Programmes and Projects Teams, Communications and Marketing consultant, Monitoring and Evaluation consultant, Customer Services Team, Resources and Finance Team and the wider Sub-Saharan Africa Arts Team
External: Creative Futures delivery partners, service providers and Creative Practitioners that both programmes work with nationally and internationally
Special requirements of the job
Some unsocial hours, weekend work and travel may be required.
Skills & Experience –
Diploma in a Social Science Discipline (Preferably Bachelors Degree) and A minimum of 2 years’ experience in one or more of the following areas:
· Delivering projects (preferably with youth and/or arts)
· Delivering work in partnership or team
· Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and Amharic
· Demonstrable understanding of and a network in the Arts Sector here in Ethiopia
· Using Outlook, Word, Excel and Social Media mainly Facebook, Telegram etc
