The Head of Production, North Africa, will work across our Tunisia, Libya and Algeria projects as the lead for all aspects of production management, including the delivery of programming to the highest possible standards. The role will be responsible for scheduling staff and trainees who work across all the productions and ensuring all records and documentation for programmes are maintained and all risk management procedures are complied with. This will be a key role to oversee production and ensure that programme recordings proceed efficiently, on time and to high production values. S/he will manage the Production Management team and will deliver training and mentoring on production management skills.

Contract duration: Fixed term contract until 31 March 2018 (with possibility of extension subject to funding)

Main responsibilities:
- Manage production management team, leading production managers assigned to specific programme outputs.
- Ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately according to project needs, deadlines and budgets.
- Monitoring scheduling and budgeting across all platforms.
- Oversee the successful delivery of production outputs.
- Deliver training and mentoring on production management skills.
- Ensure strong editorial and production values upheld in training and production outputs.
- Ensure paperwork relating to production activities is completed.
- Ensure that all risk assessment procedures are complete and adhered to for all productions.
- Ensure health and safety guidelines are communicated to all working on productions (including trainees, consultants and staff) and that best practice on health and safety is adhered to.
- Manage the core production team.
- Maintaining strong relationships with Media Action management team and funders.
- Communicate and work with other BBC Media Action teams to ensure all production objectives are met.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Strong production management skills with extensive experience of working in media production, preferably in TV.
- Excellent understanding of learning by doing approaches to media development training.
- Good training background in production management.
- Strong understanding of BBC values and editorial guidelines.
- Leadership and organisational skills.

- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Arabic and/or French fluency.
- Experience of working in the Middle East and North Africa (particularly Tunisia, Algeria and Libya).
