BBC Media Action is the BBCs international charity, which uses media and communications to help reduce poverty and support people to understand their rights. We do this through partnering with civil society, media and others to produce creative programming and other content which informs and engages audiences. We also strengthen local media by building professional capacity and infrastructure in countries where we work. We focus on health, governance and rights, and resilience and humanitarian response. This exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for A Team Assistant (Fundraising Team Assistant) and you will provide significant administrative support to the fundraising department as well as supporting the communications team.
Role Responsibility
This position will need you to play a key supporting role in maximizing voluntary fundraising income. You will assist the fundraising division in thanking and cultivating donors, steward a small portfolio of fundraisers and design, develop and update BBC Media Actions fundraising packs. Youll provide proactive and reactive research support on significant donors and corporates, identifying new prospects for development, along with planning and supporting the team in stewarding donors. This role will require you to research and map networks to enhance fundraising approaches, develop good relations and maintain excellent communication channels with other teams and departments and research existing new donors and prospects, creating research profiles. You will ensure research and information is accurately recorded on the database, actively participate in regular department and team meetings, contributing to strategy discussions and contribute to communications material (including the production of assets for use online and social media).
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills:-
Experience of working in a fundraising environment
Evidence of developing good donor relations, creating and delivering donor stewardship programmes
Experience of providing research on significant individual and corporates donors, identifying new prospects for development
Ability to communications material (including the production of assets for use online and social media) researching, writing, editing and uploading where relevant
Experience of researching target media for publicity purposes, and media monitoring
Experience of providing administration support in at least one organisation.
Organised with ability to prioritise own workload effectively, to co-ordinate activities and conflicting demands to ensure that tight deadlines are met.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to work well with range of people at all levels.
Ability to research, gather, analyse, collate and present information as required.
Proficient computer literate skills, with strong experience of office software packages (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint.).
Ability to use own initiative with minimal supervision and deal with routine queries as they arise escalating others as necessary.
Strong attention to detail.
