
Responsibilities include:
- Serve as the lead technical advisor for the project
- Serve as the main point of contact between USAID and Chemonics, reporting to both
- Ensure effective and efficient performance for all aspects of the project, overseeing quality control and reporting and interfacing with senior USAID mission, Embassy, and government officials; other donors; and regional organizations
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business, management, economics, law, engineering, policy, or other field relevant to the energy sector; or experience in leadership and management of complex programs
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the energy sector, with emphasis in the following technical areas in the developing world: transaction advisory support, competitive procurement of power support, renewable energy development, and gas and fuel supply issues
- Experience in the gas-to-power market preferred, but not required
- Minimum seven years of success in managing complex and diverse programs in similar development environments, particularly as a chief of party, project director, regional director, country director, or other senior field management role
- Demonstrated professional interaction with senior U.S. and foreign government officials
- Significant experience leading development projects in Ghana or sub-Saharan Africa highly desirable
- Demonstrated capacity to build and effectively supervise a diverse team; effective organizational, strategy development, implementation, interpersonal, and creative problem‐solving skills
- Proven capacity to establish productive relationships with high‐level host-country officials and stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in speaking and writing English, with strong oral presentation skills
