Job Title: Field Programme Assistant
Location: Damaturu, Yobe with frequent travels in-country especially within the North-East States of Bomb, Yobe and Adamawa
Job Type: Service Contract – NPP
Duration: 6 Months, renewable
General Description Of Task(S) And Objectives To Be Achieved
Under the overall supervision of the Deputy FAO Representative, with functional guidance from the operations, policy and technical units, immediate supervision of the Area Manager (Yobe State-Nigeria); the incumbent will: ◦Support the day-to-day operation of the project activities in the field
◦Participate in/conduct community based participatory planning within the displaced, returnees and the host communities.
◦Assist in the identification and selection of project beneficiaries
◦Support monitoring and evaluation of the project activities
◦Provide support to the implementation of activities in the field in various areas (crops, livestock, fisheries, environment…)
◦Collaborate with implementing partners in preparation of training material and training of project beneficiaries
◦Liaise with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback and comments to support programme reviews and improve services.
◦Receive and collate comments and feedback from cooperating partners, beneficiaries, and beneficiaries, to support identifying programmatic issues with a view to fostering efficient operations.
◦Provide guidance for cooperating partners on FAC operational practices, monitoring tools and methods in order to support them to complete self-monitoring tasks and to contribute to the visibility of FAO in the coverage areas.
◦Prepare field mission reports to document programme implementation.
◦Perform any other duties as may be required by FAO.
Minimum Requirements
Technical Competencies and Experience Requirements: ◦At least 5 years of professional experience related to Agricultural and or Livelihoods Project design, planning and or implementation.
◦Good contextual knowledge; local issues in NE Nigeria, community priorities, social and cultural constraints or realities.
◦Previous knowledge on information analysis and report writing is an added advantage.
Academic Qualifications: ◦A Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Animal Health Science and/or other related field of study is preferable.
IT Skills: ◦Ability to effectively use standard MS Office software, especially experience with Excel, MS Word.
◦Experience in working with mobile phone enabled data collection platforms is an added advantage.
Languages: ◦A strong capability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written English, and other languages in the North-East Nigeria, including Hausa and/or Kanuri
Work Relationship: ◦Frequent contact with internal and external officials many,of whom are at the senior level.
