Amnesty International Vacancy for Head of Office-Middle East and North Africa (MENA)

Amnesty International‘s (AI) Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional office are now seeking a Head of Office to lead in the establishment and management and contribute to the implementation of operational plans for the Jerusalem office.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Working closely with the Regional Director (RD) for MENA, you will use political judgment and expertise to advise and support the RD and broader management group on AI’s substantive human rights work in Israel/Palestine, including emerging issues, trends, and crisis situations. You will oversee integrated planning and delivery for all research, advocacy and campaign projects in the Jerusalem office (global, regional, national, crisis, etc). You will foster relationships between the Jerusalem office, sections and partners in Israel/Palestine, and share information about projects and actions to maintain a shared plan for research, advocacy, campaigns and related activities.
As Head of Office you will be responsible for the quality of Jerusalem office research, campaigns and advocacy outputs, managing the development and implementation of human rights research and advocacy action plans for Israel/Palestine, in line with globally agreed priorities and strategies.  In this role you will also have the opportunity to work with campaigns, communications, activism, movement building and media to increase activist and public engagement in AI’s campaigns and support both growth and human rights impact.
ABOUT YOU
With direct experience of the human rights and political and social context in Israel/Palestine, you will bring demonstrable knowledge and an expert understanding of the international humanitarian and human rights law legal framework. You will be familiar and have experience of working in a key leadership role in a complex organisation, preferably with exposure of maintaining a successful operation during times of organisational change and  managing a cross-functional and multi-cultural team.
Your human rights research experience for advocacy purposes will be in-depth and you will have familiarity in using a range of appropriate methodologies. You will be adept at leading campaigns at the national and international level through a campaigns life-cycle and will have the ability to represent AI in difficult and high-profile environments.
A highly advanced communicator with excellent political judgement, you will be fluent in English and Arabic (both written and oral), with Hebrew as desirable.
