Our vision is that every woman and girl is strong, safe, powerful, and heard. No exceptions. We invest in women’s human rights by getting money and support to women-led organizations that are fighting for justice in their own communities. To help women’s groups build strong movements, Global Fund for Women provides grants for operating and program expenses, as well as small grants to organize and participate in events. We believe that investing in grassroots women’s rights is the single most effective way to create change because it gets to the root of the problem instead of just alleviating the symptoms
The following opportunities are currently open:

Travel Grants

Application date: ongoing

Women’s rights groups that have received a grant from Global Fund for Women in the past five years can apply for a travel grant of US $5,000-$15,000 to attend national, regional, and international gatherings and events. The purpose of travel grants is to strengthen women’s rights movements, influence decisions, and mobilize resources.
Priority is given to women’s rights groups that:

• Work with and/or are led by highly marginalized communities
• Have limited funding
• Concentrate their efforts on one or more of the following thematic areas:
• Economic & Political Empowerment
• Freedom from Violence
• Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights
• Media & Technology
• Women’s Funds

Please note:

• Funding for these grants is extremely limited
• Applicants must have received a grant from Global Fund for Women in the past five years
• Applicants must also have a current organizational profile
• Applications must be submitted at least 8 weeks before the start date of the event
• A group may only have one travel or event grant proposal open or under consideration at a given time

Several groups may jointly seek funding for the same event if the lead group submitting the application has an organizational profile and has received a grant from Global Fund for Women in the past five years.
Interested organizations that have received a grant in the past five years can submit an application through our online application site. Applications must be submitted at least 8 weeks before the start date of the event.

Event Organizing Grants

Application date: ongoing

Women’s rights groups that have received a grant from Global Fund for Women in the past five years can apply for grants for organizing time sensitive convenings and events in the range of US $10,000-$20,000 for women’s rights groups, and US $15,000-$30,000 for women’s funds. The purpose of these grants is to strengthen the women’s rights movement at all levels, plan joint actions, influence decisions and mobilize resources.
Priority is given to women’s rights groups and women’s funds that:

• Work with and/or are led by highly marginalized communities
• Concentrate their efforts on one or more of the following thematic areas:
• Economic & Political Empowerment
• Freedom from Violence
• Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights
• Media & Technology
• Women’s Funds
• Have past experience in coordinating events
