• Keeping abreast of best practices in speech and language therapy and language development
• Providing high quality direct speech-language therapy services to students
• Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders. (Identification of students at risk for later problems)
• Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies such as visual supports, oral motor exercises, language strips, topics of conversation, and data collection.
• Ensuring students’ skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and related service providers.
• Completing treatment notes and progress reports in timely manner and according to school policy
• Assessment of students’ communication skills
• Valuation of the results of comprehensive assessments and Documentation of outcomes
• Collaboration with teachers and other professionals
• Planning and providing appropriate treatment
• Giving advice and support to family members and teachers
• Performing controlled therapy sessions with individuals, groups and/or families.
• Maintaining appropriate, confidential, records and provide timely reports.
• Keeping abreast of best practices in speech and language therapy and language development
• Engaging parents and families in their student’s learning and acting as an ambassador for the school in the community
• To undertake, where appropriate, other roles, which may arise either in the department or in the wider school environment.
• Any other duties relating to the job as required from time to time by the Head of School /Principal.
