We are currently recruiting a Head of Mission to be based in Nigeria, to lead and manage IRW operations in the country. The Head of Mission will be responsible for the Country Programme development, management, monitoring of operation and Country Strategy development, supervision of expatriate and national staff, as well as office and management procedures. As part of the program development, the successful candidate is expected to examine the funding situation and solicit funding for programmes. He/she will also be accountable to ensure all aspects of programs are implemented in accordance with grant agreements, budgets and schedule in addition to overseeing all aspects of IRW’s presence. In addition, s(h)e will be overseeing the reporting to the International Office in Birmingham and donors.
It is essential that the successful candidate has a post graduate Degree in Development, International Relations or any related field with considerable overseas experience preferably with an INGO managing humanitarian operations. S(H)e will also need to have experience in budgeting, balance-sheet management, designing and implementing projects, plus strong previous experience and skills in leadership and networking. The job holder should have previous knowledge and experience of fundraising from and dealing with institutional donors (such as USAID, EC, ECHO, DFID or UN agencies). The candidate should have an excellent working knowledge of written and spoken English and French or Arabic. The knowledge of the local language is also desirable.
