Regional Humanitarian and Inclusion Coordinator

HelpAge International is the secretariat to the HelpAge Global Network, which brings together a wide range of organisations and individuals working to promote the rights and meet the needs of older women and men, nationally and/or internationally. Our long-term vision is to establish a global movement of strong connected age focused and older people led platforms in every country in the world. We aim also to ensure older men and women are able to address their needs during humanitarian crisis.
Following the recent famine crisis in the East and Horn of Africa Region, HelpAge’s International’s Africa Regional office through country teams and partners, are delivering integrated cash transfer program to address the immediate food, nutrition and livelihoods needs for older women and men in Ethiopia, Kenya and South Sudan. HelpAge International is therefore seeking to fill the following position.
He/she will spearhead capacity building and advocacy on inclusion of older people and disability work in emergencies within the organisation and with various humanitarian players and stakeholders. The post-holder will offer inclusion technical support in the implementation of the DEC program in Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia and assist in mainstreaming of age and disability in regional emergency programs.
The potential candidate will have at least 5 years’ proven experience in implementing humanitarian programming in inclusion work, protection, cash transfers, food security and livelihoods, at national or regional level; and has at least Bachelor’s degree in either Law, Disaster/ humanitarian studies, Development studies, International relations, social sciences or other related fields. Experience of working in the UN cluster system and in particular the role of cluster lead agencies, technical and managerial competence in implementing humanitarian programming throughout the project cycle – from needs assessment to monitoring and evaluation. Experience in Humanitarian Advocacy ad influencing are key to this role.
