British American Tobacco currently has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Corporate Finance Manager, to be based in our South Africa HQ (Cape Town) on a permanent basis.
The purpose of the role is to review, control and manage the delivery of specific elements of budgets and/or management accounts and/or financial accounts, ensuring quality products at all times. The role will involve management responsibilities and will require liaison with internal and/or external stakeholders. The job holder will be responsible for process compliance so that source system data is complete and accurate as well as adhering to policies, procedures and accounting standards.
Main responsibilities:
Control and ensure delivery of accurate financial information (Budgets, Forecasts and Actual results), in line with group accounting principles. Utilise key insights to identify and assess strategic proposals and to direct informed business decisions;
Review and sign off statutory accounts & reports for local entity;
Drive the annual company budgeting process locally and ensure that all stakeholders are adequately equipped and informed of key accountabilities and responsibilities;
Support and manage projects and assignments that contribute to the delivery of the company’s strategies and plans;
Identify, develop and drive efficiency improvements, based on best practice and in line with group standardisation;
Responsible for being the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for Finance Share Services Centre (FSSC) to ensure delivery of information is on-time in full, and all issues are resolved; Management of relationship with FSSC to ensure performance in line with SLA and KPI’s are achieved from EM perspective;
Provide strategic commercial support to all Corporate Head Office functions (including HR, IT, CORA, Legal, AIT, Risk & Security and Central Management).
Essential requirements
Skills, knowledge and experience:
Degree educated with professional qualification (CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA/MBA)
A minimum of 6 – 8 years’ experience in an global FMCG or similar dynamic operating environment
Experience dealing with external stakeholders
Thorough understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems, i.e. SAP/HFM/BI/BPC
Broad experience in large global organisation with in-depth knowledge in specific controlling process areas
Strong influencing, leadership and interpersonal skills
Experience in strategic analysis & planning and execution, performance metrics, project evaluation and commercial acumen,
Ability to simplify complex situations and synthesise, communicate and present complex information
Insightful, comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty, pro-active, collaborative and consultative
Able to demonstrate a strong commercial approach, requiring constant questioning and challenging of conventional practices
Pro-active, persuasive and creative, will be introducing new rules and changing standards of practice
