BBC Media Action uses media and communications to help people improve their lives and support them to understand their rights. We do this through partnering with civil society, media and others to produce creative programmes and other outputs which inform and engage audiences on key development issues. We also strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure. We focus on health, governance and rights, and resilience and humanitarian response.
Role Responsibility
BBC Media Action has recently established a North Africa office in Tunis to manage and develop its portfolio of media projects for Tunisia, Libya and Algeria. You will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of a range of projects and ensure that agreed targets and objectives are met and that project outputs meet BBC editorial standards. You will be responsible for the recruitment, induction, task and performance management, and professional development of the Project Management team. An important aspect of the role will involve supporting the Country Director with a wide range of local and BBC compliance issues. You will also be responsible for overseeing business development in North Africa, ensuring that appropriate strategic opportunities are pursued and that proposals are well designed, realistically budgeted, creative, editorially compelling and in line with BBC Media Action methodologies and approaches.
The Ideal Candidate
It is essential that you have a strong technical understanding of the communications for development sector as well as extensive experience managing complex projects in the media sector, including strong organisational, budgeting and financial management skills. This role requires you to have senior-level experience managing a large team and addressing performance issues. You will also have an excellent track record in securing project funding from a wide range of institutional donors. Finally, you will have a thorough understanding of BBC editorial guidelines, target audience, programme and departmental objectives.

This position is based in Tunis and the location is non-negotiable.
