Job Brief:
You will be tasked with the responsibility to provide day-to-day operational leadership and reinforce a culture of collaboration and teamwork, while patiently and systematically advancing systems and processes that improves and streamlines all supply chain operations-warehouse, transportation and logistics. You will be a major contributor to the continued success and growth of our organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Direct the efforts of the Transportation Manager.
• Participate in the negotiations of inbound freight contracts to minimize transportation costs, shorten lead times, and meet the product delivery goals of our Buyers.
• Develop appropriate metrics to drive performance increases and maintain safety within warehouse operations.
• Drive process improvement to increase productivity, reduce errors, lower costs, and maintain a safe environment within all warehouses functions.
• Responsible for accurate inventory and productivity levels.
• Hires, supervises, schedules, and trains warehouse personnel. Works with temp employee agencies as needed to meet short-term labor demands.
• Manage the cost-effective movement of outbound shipments using the most cost effective method, while adhering to safety and transportation regulations.
• Negotiate and manage carrier contracts to meet cost and delivery expectations.
• Develops and maintains an effective system of internal controls and departmental metrics showing productivity, efficiency, loss measures, and accuracy.
• Develops staff, provides timely feedback and ensures adequate cross-training and backup for all positions within warehouse operations.
• Develops, implements and maintains systems, procedures, and policies, to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
• Deliver concise and meaningful monthly reports with variance explanations to the Executive Team.
• Manages multiple deadlines, displaying a high level of organization skills and maintaining confidentiality.
• Develop working relationships and partner with “internal customers” such as, but not limited to, our Buyers, Allocators, IT, and Store Managers, to ensure success in the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelor’s degree is required in business, supply chain operations, logistics, engineering, or related field. Equivalent work experience to meet the expectation of the position will be considered.
• 2-3 years in logistics management roles, demonstrating leadership in driving cost savings, productivity improvements, adherence to regulations, contract negotiations, team building, and staff safety.
• Broad knowledge of material handling, warehouse operations, and transportation systems required.
• Certification in various productivity skills is a plus.
• Ability to work and partner with the merchant and sales organizations plus an Excellent negotiating skills.
• Must have strong planning, organizational, and problem solving skills to balance and prioritize work.
• Must have an excellent written and verbal communication and strong leadership skills.
