The main purpose of the job is to provide business support services to colleagues across our office in Senegal, ensuring that corporate standards are met.
Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
Finance
– Maintain petty cash, post transactions on SAP and keep accurate records
– Request petty cash replenishment as required
– Receive cash from Customer Service agents and deposit into the bank
– Provide the Customer Service agents with a cash float
– Raise purchase orders and confirm receipt of goods and services on SAP
– Contact suppliers to obtain invoices
– Scan invoices and send to our global hub
– Input Ecobank Omni online payments
– Collect cheques issued by our global hub and deliver to suppliers
Resources
– Ensure that there are adequate supplies of stationery in stock
– Monitor fuel consumption for the office car and the generator by updating the control spreadsheet. Ensure that we have an adequate supply to meet demand.
– Support the organisation of events in the office for set up
– Assist the Resources Coordinator with health and safety compliance and record administration
– Provide support to the Resources Coordinator on premises maintenance
– Make travel bookings for colleagues using our preferred supplier
– Monitor communication costs, ensuring that reimbursements are made by colleagues for personal use of mobile phones
– Support the Head of Finances and Resources in ensuring that we meet corporate standards for environmental impact
Human Resources
– Set up HR files for new members of staff
– Help to organise job interviews
– Provide support on collection of HR data
– Provide support to international staff on matters relating to residency and other formalities
Other key responsibilities:
The postholder will be accountable to Resources Coordinator. However, the post holder will also be required to work with all Senegal office staff to provide a high level of business support.

Resources work requires occasional (or sometimes regular) work outside conditioned hours, for example in the evenings or at weekends. TOIL should be agreed with the line manager in advance to maintain an adequate work-life balance. Post holders may be required to travel abroad on British Council business and should therefore hold valid travel documents.
Skills and Qualifications
• Experience of working in a business support environment
• Relevant post-secondary school qualification or comparable experience
• Proficient in English (B2 level)
• Proficient in French (B2 level)
