Summary

IPA Ghana seeks to hire a Field Manager for six months, starting in October 2015 to help support North Volta Rural Bank (NVRB) projects, run by Tricia Gonwa, Simone Schaner, Leora Klapper, Robert Darko Osei, Markus Goldstein, Niklas Buehren, and Angeli Kirk. These studies aim to test the impact of different financial services and products designed collaboratively by the researchers and NVRB. The Field Manager will work closely with the Research Coordinator and Research Associate to execute field activities. This position will be based in Accra, with frequent travel to the Volta Region.

Job Description

  • Report directly to the Research Associate
  • Adhere to all IPA survey protocols
  • Supervise multiple field teams and Team Leader
  • Organize overall field logistics
  • Pilot and develop instruments with the Research Coordinator and Research Associate
  • Coordinate field work, manage field team expenses, and communicate with the project management team
  • Ensure that field teams adhere to IPA protocols and meet their contractual obligations
  • Accompany surveyors; conduct random, spot checks; Scrutinize edited surveys; do back-checks as necessary
  • Ensure survey equipment is managed appropriately by field teams and assist with the preparation of daily work plans
  • Be responsible for maintaining good relations with IPA, its employees, partner organizations and project participants
  • Perform other work related task that may be assigned.

Required Skills or Experience

It is required that candidates have;
  • Fluency in English, Twi and Ewe;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in economics, development, statistics, or related field;
  • Excellent management, communication and organizational skills;
  • Project management experience, as well as experience supervising, designing, and implementing data collection and/or field work activities, and managing teams of field workers is preferred;
  • Previous experience in a similar position is a preferred;
  • Experience working in the Volta Region is a plus;
  • Prior experience working on the NVRB data collection is an added advantage
