The Emerging Markets, which represent approximately 2/3 of the world’s population, present significant opportunities and challenges with regards to market access for pharmaceuticals. A strategic goal is to increase access to broader patient segments in these markets using a sustainable business model. The access to innovative pharmaceuticals in emerging markets is mostly restricted to self-pay over the entire lifecycle or at the beginning prior to public reimbursement. Specific access models and value propositions that are tailored to the self-pay setting need to be developed and implemented.
The role will be responsible for building the awareness and reflection of self-pay segment specific considerations throughout the product development stages, the development of the needed capabilities within the GCSO organization and coordination with other relevant functions and teams.
This position reports to the Head of MA 2020 EM Hub Team.
The Director, Emerging Markets Value Proposition will work with Regional and Local teams in emerging markets to capture specific self pay market needs. This individual will build awareness of the Emerging Market self-pay segment considerations across the Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO). The role will develop and execute training modules on self-pay value proposition development aspects for the Therapeutic Area Market Access and Commercial teams. This individual will lead market insight generation process to identify self-pay specific market value dimensions for Janssen’s key disease areas. The Director will develop and implement a new go-to-market model via identification of and piloting innovative access strategies (e.g., Public-Private Partnerships). This individual will guide the development of value propositions within the TAs. The role will work closely with Market Access Emerging Market Hub team and the VP Global Market Access Emerging Markets and will work with the Emerging Market Advisory Board.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Market Research, or a related area) is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Working experience in a senior marketing/commercial role in consumer, consulting, or pharmaceuticals (if Pharmaceuticals, the experience must be in over the counter [OTC]/self-pay market segments) is required. Working experience in emerging markets preferred. At least 10 years of relevant experience is required. Experience in Business Intelligence, Marketing Analytics, pharmaceutical and/or OTC pricing, pricing research and/or Market Access is preferred. Good command of English, strong communication and presentation skills are needed. Good analytical skills and financial acumen are needed. The ability to navigate and influence in a complex, matrix-organization will be required. Demonstrated key stakeholder engagement and communication capability is needed. Big picture orientation with strategic thinking and enterprise view will be needed. Experience operating successfully in a global, multi-cultural or multi-country environment is required. This position can be based in Raritan, NJ, or a Janssen location in Europe, Asia Pacific, or Latin America, and may require between 20-30% travel.
