  • Job reports to:  Continuous Improvement Manager

Position on the organisational structure
Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager or his representative
Job purpose
Providing analytical and implementation support to Continuous Improvement function to ensure the implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives, methodologies, strategies and associated techniques/technology for delivery of substantial cost reductions and efficiency improvements.
Main objectives
Effective analytical support is provided for the Continuous Improvement function

  • Act as CI team’s primary resource for accessing relevant production and cost data
  • Provide fact-base to help CI team identify priorities, solve root-causes and identify significant cost saving ideas
  • Directly assist Idea Owners to complete Idea Forms
  • Reinforce CI team’s high standards for Idea Form requirements
  • Provide analytic support for weekly review and for updates to relevant departments
  • Maintain the team’s database of Ideas and oversee tracking of all ideas

Effective implementation support is provided for the Continuous Improvement function

  • Assist Idea Owners to develop effective work plans for ideas
  • Assist Idea Owners with any analytical requirements to implement ideas
  • Assist Idea Owners to track ideas to ensure the deliver results and are sustainable
  • Assist Idea Owners to meet sign off requirement for Ideas
  • Highlight ideas that are under/over performing to the rest of team
  • Develop automated tools for wiring (scorecards, results charts)

Strong improvement skills and insight into key developmental functions/operations is developed and maintained

  • Gain solid understanding of key Improvement concepts and tools from Business Coach
  • Gain solid understanding of key implementation skills from IF
  • Improve skills through use/participation (e.g. driver tree, idea forms, IGSs)
  • Improve implementation skills through direct role with Idea Owners

Value-adding CI projects, ideas and strategies are implemented

  • Analyse value-adding CI projects, ideas, methodologies and strategies
  • Benchmark key process performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Identify conformance / deviation in improved and existing processes, and suggest improvements

Congenial relationship with Continuous Improvement stakeholders is established and maintained

  • Appropriate agreements in place
  • Appropriate communication forums in place
  • Establish good relationship with stakeholders

Cost generating issues are critically analysed and evaluated

  • Analyse labour cost and suggest improvement areas
  • Analyse Cash Cost and NCE and suggest improvement areas
  • Ensure effective planning of CI implementation
  • Meet business budgets (Ounces produced in an efficient manner)

Managing PIPware software

  • Setting up and training new PIPware users
  • Liaising between Chirano PIPware users and the PIPware support team
  • Ensure PIPware reports provide accurate and reliable infor

Required Skills or Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • 3+ years working experience preferably in a mining environment

Knowledge and Skills

  • Above average computer skills – excel, power point, etc
  • Project Management skills
  • Good understanding of mining business and operational processes
  • Defensive driving with valid driver’s license.
