Purpose/Role:
Support the Business Development Team, with research, data input, presentations, customer plans and Market Intelligence
Key Aims and Objectives:
Market Research:
Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
Research and build relationships with new clients.
Work with Jagal Businesses Development team and relevant JVs in researching opportunities.
Build a database of target opportunities (clients and projects).
Identify any new EPC related ventures or services that could compliment the company’s service offer.
Research competitors and their approach to clients.
Obtain competitor intelligence to compare their business development approach to clients.
Where possible, obtain comparative information on competitor pricing levels in comparison with the company.
Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends
Research media that can be used in any marketing campaigns
Assemble and disseminate market intelligence

Business Development Planning:
Bring structure and planning to the opportunity funnel in order that the most prospective client targets receive the appropriate levels of attention.
Identify major opportunities within the agreed sectors. Prepare business case reports for opportunities where appropriate.
Monitor and report on all specific tenders and opportunities.
Provide regular business development summary reports to management and build and maintain excellent client, project and market related information.
Provide BD leadership in key areas of the business in order to help to enable Nigerdock to realise its growth aspirations.
Identify new business opportunities and build on current business relationships to expand opportunities.
Create, maintain and enhance client relationships through regular contact and meetings to understand and prioritise future opportunities.
Develop and manage strategic relationships to enable formation of strategic alliances with organizations to enhance the overall effectiveness of our offerings in bids for contracts
Establish clear, achievable and challenging objectives. Monitor performance regularly to ensure highest chance of success.
Liaise with the Nigerdock BD Director in the formation of the annual business development plan.
Work to ensure that targets are met or exceeded.
Review existing Nigerdock business development plans, processes and policies. Recommend any changes and improvements considered necessary, ensuring they comply with Jagal processes.
Support and encourage cross selling of other services available via Joint Venture partners.
Evaluate opportunities to educate the market and generate effective proposals.
Ensure that all bids are fully compliant including in terms of Nigerian Content Act
Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Present to, and consult with, senior management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and opportunity channels.
Submit monthly progress reports with accurate data and forecasted sales targets
Liaise with the Nigerdock marketing team and Jagal marketing team to develop and tailor literature explaining the company’s values, experience, capability and capacity to suite particular client organisations.
Set up meetings between client decision makers and the company’s practice leaders/Principals
Work with senior managers to develop proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives
Work with the marketing team to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner
Support the BD director in building and developing key client relationships
Participate in and/or deliver presentations to clients as needed
Host client delegations as part of the client pre-award due diligence process
Attend exhibitions and conferences and host educational marketing seminars for the region
Client Retention:
Present new ideas to enhance existing relationships
Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs
Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs
Prime Responsibilities and Duties:
Set up meetings between client decision makers and the company’s practice leaders/Principals
Work with senior managers to develop proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives
Work with the marketing team to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner

Participate in and/or deliver presentations to clients as needed
Host client delegations as part of the client pre-award due diligence process
Attend exhibitions and conferences and host educational marketing seminars for the region
Client Relation:
Present new ideas to enhance existing relationships

Other Duties:

Reports:
Undertake the required reporting functions to keep the Nigerdock Executive Team informed of progress to approved projects and bids/pipeline
Manage all reporting.

Job Requirements
Required Experience: 5-7 year(s)
The Persons:
Degree or equivalent in fields such as marketing or business with related industry and key client experience
Level of knowledge associated with 5+ years of relevant industry related experience.
Business development, proposal development, marketing, and sales analysis
Knowledge of the Shipping, logistics and oil and gas markets.
Strong interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
Strong organisational skills
Clients contacts and relationships with industry and client decision makers in the Shipping and Logistics industry, also ability to plan and manage work in an efficient manner, and the ability to work well under stress and time constraints.
Leadership skills required to assemble a project or account team, outline a win strategy, and lead the successful implementation of the account plan or win strategy.
Strong ability to persuade and influence others is critical.
Ability to take a leadership role in preparing and presenting complex program proposal and reports to senior level management (internal and external) is critical.
Passion for delivering positive, measurable results.
Internal motivation with self-confidence and patience and a strong desire to exceed expectations.
Excellent Presentational and Interpersonal skills.
Excellent spoken and written English. Other languages would be an advantage.
