It’s hard to believe that today 768 million people still don’t have clean, safe water and 2.5 billion live without a toilet. The resulting diseases kill 2,000 children every day.
WaterAid is looking for a Senior Programme Coordinator – Integrated WASH Rural and a Senior Programme Coordinator – Business Development to play a vital role in our mission to transform lives with safe water, sanitation and hygiene in the world’s poorest communities.
Senior Programme Coordinator – Integrated WASH Rural: As an active member of the Integrated WASH Team, you will be part of the strategic planning, coordination and implementation of WaterAid Uganda’s rural WASH interventions for water supply and sanitation promotion.
Top three key responsibilities:
You will work at district local government level, national level and with the private sector in the development and promotion of innovative water supply, water resource management and sanitation solutions.
You will provide strategic support to WaterAid Uganda’s partners, including plan development, implementation and management.
You will offer capacity building support in appropriate technologies to WaterAid Uganda’s implementing partners, enhancing sustainability, equity and inclusiveness.
To be successful, you’ll need a Master’s degree in Water Engineering or Hydrology plus an advanced degree in Public Health or Environmental studies, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Water Engineering or Civil Engineering. You will also have a minimum of 7 years proven experience in the WASH development sector.
Senior Programme Coordinator – Business Development: You will work closely with the wider Integrated WASH Team responsible for creating demand for sanitation and promoting sanitation services and products. You will support capacity building and promote entrepreneurial development for partners and sanitation service and product providers.
Top three key responsibilities:
You will lead on identifying appropriate market-based approaches and supply-side activities to support sanitation services.
You will promote entrepreneurial development by leading efforts in local enterprise development, quality improvement and innovative outreach mechanisms related to local markets, paying particular focus to vulnerable groups.
You will influence both domestic and community sanitation and hygiene practices through behavioural change communications delivered by existing community health structures and schools.
To be successful, you’ll need to have a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, social marketing, communication or related field. You will also have at least 5 years’ experience working for an international organization in either supply chain behaviour or change communication capacity. You must have demonstrated knowledge of the WASH sector, particularly sanitation marketing approaches and messaging related to sanitation and hygiene.
