JOB DESCRIPTION

To help drive continuing growth and expansion, a talented professional (Nigerian or Expatriate) is now being sought to fill the position of:
Regional Finance Director
Reporting to the CEO Nigeria/Regional Director, WECA, you will be
expected to provide leadership in the formulation and implementation
of financial strategy for accomplishing the agency’s business mission
and objectives. Specific responsibilities shall include:
• Preparation of budgets and financial reports for the region including
statements of income and financial position, tax returns and reports
for government regulatory agencies.
• Providing proposals on changes to and implementation of approved
accounting policies and procedures whilst overseeing adherence to
same by BU Heads of Finance.
• Contributing to the achievement of regional business objectives and
meeting legal responsibilities across jurisdictions by providing advice
and guidance on financial strategy.
• Reviewing and standardizing all major regional client contracts,
triggering changes for consistency with company financial goals and
minimizing business risks.
• Overseeing all accounting procedures and systems utilized by the
agency across the region.
• Interfacing with BU Chief Buyers to negotiate best floor media rates
leveraging buys across the region.
• Reviewing reports and analyzing projections of revenue and income
against actual figures and be highly involved in planning and
improvement methods process.
• Monitoring financial performance, in particular cash flow, for
effective treasury management across currencies and jurisdictions.
• Contributing to the continued growth and success of the business;
developing financial models, planning for the future, with competitor
analyses as a member of the regional management team.
• Working in collaboration with the regional tax advisors and auditors
for effective tax planning.
• Overseeing, presenting and obtaining approval for annual budgets
and long range plans in collaboration with the Regional Director/CEO
Nigeria and other regional heads.
• Exhibiting high standard of performance by motivating, mentoring,
directing the training and management development of BU Heads
of Finance and a small regional finance staff.
• Conducting quarterly/half yearly performance review and year end
appraisal of direct reports.
• Carrying out any other assignments as delegated by the Regional
Director/CEO Nigeria.
• Key Outputs:
a. Statutory accounts for the region
b. Annual returns for the region
c. Annual budget and long range plan for the region
d. Annual departmental budget
e. Monthly financial variance reports
f. Monthly management accounts and subsidiary information and
g. Trading company accounts
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CFA) with a
keen commercial sense.
• Minimum of 15 years post qualification experience in both accounting
and management.
• Substantial working experience of management, ideally within FMCG
organizations with a high volume/velocity of financial transactions,
and/or in a leading media advertising agency in a developing country
environment.
• Hands-on working knowledge of how to consolidate BU monthly
financial variances into US$ profit leak analyses at regional level whilst
managing transaction and translation exposures across soft currency
environments/jurisdictions.
• Excellent strategic, analytical, interpretative, budgeting and long
range planning skills.
• Proficient in the knowledge and deployment of ICT and
accounting systems (e.g. Sage Line 50 and Pastel/ Evolution,
and other ERP accounting software).
• Ability to develop and monitor implementation of policy,
manage change and having cross cultural (diversity) sensitivity.
• Encourage accountability and internal and external customers focus.
