Exciting Careers at West African Rescue Association(WARA)
Many student doctors, qualified nurses and paramedics from different parts of the world who would like to seek an opportunity to work with our team in order to gain the unique experience of working in the African region in a team which operates on an international standard in a challenging third world health care environment.
Currently our team can only offer interested people the following potential opportunities which are well outlined below. Volunteer Experience Opportunities:
WARA gives out three opportunities per year for volunteers to gain work experience with our team. Minimum stay is three months and maximum stay is six months. Volunteers need to have a minimum qualification as a paramedic or EMT Medic or be in their fourth or fifth year as a full time medical student or their final year in training as a nurse.
The package for volunteers is as follows:
- WARA will pay for your return flights to Ghana/ Sierra Leone for your trip
- WARA will pay for the costs of your visa, essential vaccinations and travel insurance policy
- WARA will pay for the cost of your full board and lodging for the duration of your time in Ghana/ Sierra Leone
- WARA will take care of minor local health care problems for the duration of your time in Ghana/ Sierra Leone
It is required that you:
- Are prepared to work voluntarily within our medical team for the duration of your time in country
Full Time Employment Opportunities:
WARA currently employs fully qualified Medical Doctors, EMT’s and Paramedics for long term contracts to work in our full time medical team. Minimum contract duration is one year.
- WARA will pay for two flights per year for annual leave purposes
- WARA will take care of the costs of your visa and essential vaccinations required for your trip
- WARA will pay for the full costs of board and lodging for the duration of your contract in country
- WARA will take care of all the costs of your local health care needs whilst in country
- WARA will reimburse you the costs of an international health care policy that covers medical evacuation.
