United States Government, represented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is pleased to announce an exciting job opportunity for a motivated individual to serve as the Deputy Team Leader for the HPN Team in USAID/Nigeria’s Investing in People Office. The Deputy HPN Team Leader shall play a critical role in ensuring technical and program management oversight of the HPN Team for all health, population and nutrition matters and related development issues. S/he shall function as the alter ego of the HPN Team Leader and serve as Acting Team Leader during the absence of the Team Leader in coordinating day-to-day implementation and forward planning actions for all HPN Team functions, in accordance with approved guidelines, regulations and procedures. S/he shall coordinate, supervise and develop Team members and strengthens the engagement of Team members in portfolio development and management, and particularly in monitoring, evaluation and operations research as needed to increase the impact of the HPN portfolio.

Specifically, as DHPNTL, the contractor shall perform the following, working under the overall direction and supervision of the HPN Team Leader: (1) Provide program development support for HPN portfolio; (2) Perform activity management and administration of HPN Cooperative Agreements, Grants and Contracts as well as associated Implementing Partners’ (IP) requirements; (3) Provide technical oversight of HPN activities; (4) Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of HPN activities; (5) Contribute substantially to HPN Team development and supervision; and (6) Strengthen relationships with Partners, e.g. Government of Nigeria, Development Partners/Donors, and other USG agencies.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Public Health or an equivalent degree in a relevant field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience working for USAID or USAID-funded health programs; as well as a minimum of 10 years of experience in design, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of international maternal, neonatal, infant and child health (MNCH), reproductive health (RH), population and family health (PFP) programs. In addition, strong interpersonal skills, including experience as a senior supervisor; working in teams; and managing conflict is mandatory.
